allow a way to extract the backup and after create our own backup from the backup to use in iTunes
After extracting from a backup we should be able to mod any files and extract from them, afterwards be able to convert it back into a itunes compatible format to be able to backup from it afterwards.
51 votesThanks for the suggestion, we will look into this for a possible upcoming version.

extracting mms messages
also would like you to extract mms messages as well...some messages are included with pictures and such...
12 votesThanks Chris. We do already extract this data: you can get pictures from the Pictures extraction, and messages from SMS. We don’t bundle them together yet, though, and that’s something we may do in future.

Default location
for me it is necessary to open backup files from another location. the programm always starts with the location of my itunes. but i would like to start the programm with another location, so i dont have to change the path to the backup files always. Maybe it could be possible to spezify the path to the backup files on the commandline or in a .ini file

improve key recovery
you should have the app prompt for your registered email address and if valid, update the license. this process is frustrating -

Also backup or extract the sms-legacy.db file, that's in the same location as the sms.db, in case someone deleted a mesage on accident.
The SMS legacy file is where messages are soft deleted. I don't know if it's true with iOS 4 but it was for iOS 2 and maybe 3.

Give option to export without the directory structure
- for example I'd like to export all photos into a single flat folder that does not reflect the iphone folder structure

Copy new backups to a safe location
It would be nice if your program automatically started when I turn on my computer and then immediately searched for iPhone/iPad backups and copied them to a safe location. This way, I wouldn't unknowingly let iTunes overwrite an important backup. There's been a few times I didn't know I needed an old backup until after the file had been overwritten.

add a function to delete files from inside backup
I installed an iNav theme and subsequently encountered the problem of deleting blank web clips. Although I can use SSH to remove them from the iDevice, it appears they are stored in my iTunes backup and hence are put back on the iDevice after a sync.
Would be great to delete them from the backup! Not sure there are many other uses for such a feature though?
Cheers2 votesThanks for the suggestion Mark. We’ll put this in if there’s enough support for it. Best, A
